# Getting Started with Majik Universal ID

## Overview
Majik Universal ID (MUID) is a cryptographic identity system by Majikah that permanently binds your account, your Majik Key, and your verified identity in a strict 1:1:1 relationship. This guide covers everything you need to get up and running.

### What is a Majik Universal ID?

Majik Universal ID (MUID) is Majikah's proprietary identity layer. It anchors your Majikah account to a single Majik Key and optionally to a verified real-world identity via Didit KYC. Once created, your MUID has a public profile page anyone can visit to inspect your signing keys, verification status, and published signed content — without exposing any private information.

> **NOTE:** Only one MUID is allowed per Majikah account, and only one Majik Key per MUID. A Majik Key that is already bound to another user's MUID cannot be reused.

### The 1:1:1 Binding

Your MUID creates a permanent, cryptographically provable link between three things: your Majikah user account, a single Majik Key (Ed25519 + ML-DSA-87 + ML-KEM-768), and your verified identity. Private personal information is always encrypted at rest using ML-KEM-768 — the same technology used in Majik Message — and is never exposed through the public profile.

### Verified vs. Unverified

A newly created MUID starts as Unverified. It is fully functional for signing and SLinks, but carries no KYC backing. You can delete and recreate an unverified MUID at any time to correct personal information or swap the bound key. Once you complete Didit KYC, your MUID becomes Verified and is locked for 30 days — after which revocation is possible if needed.

> **NOTE:** A verified MUID cannot be revoked or deleted until 30 days after the verification date. This protects against abuse and key-swap attacks. After the lockout expires, the identity can be revoked and a new one created.

### Prerequisites

1. **1. Create a Majikah Account**
   *Register at majikah.solutions*
   - Visit majikah.solutions and sign up for a free account.
   - Fill in your profile information accurately — this is what gets encrypted into your MUID and cross-checked during Didit KYC.
   - If you already have a Majikah account, skip this step and go directly to id.majikah.solutions/id.

2. **2. Get a Majik Key**
   *Your cryptographic signing identity*
   - You need a Majik Key backup (.json seed file) to bind to your MUID.
   - If you already have one from Majik Signature or Majik Message, you can reuse it — all Majik Keys are interoperable across Majikah products.
   - If you do not have one yet, create a free Majik Key account at signature.majikah.solutions, message.majikah.solutions, or directly from the MUID setup flow.
   - Back up your 12/24-word seed phrase. This is the only way to recover your key. Your MUID is permanently linked to this key — losing the seed phrase means losing the ability to sign as that identity.

3. **3. Open the Universal ID App**
   *id.majikah.solutions/id*
   - Navigate to id.majikah.solutions/id and log in with your Majikah account.
   - If no MUID exists yet, the setup wizard will launch automatically.
