# Creating a Majik Universal ID

> Step-by-step guide to registering your first Majik Universal ID

## Overview
Create your Majik Universal ID in three steps: confirm your profile, load your Majik Key, and register. The entire flow takes under five minutes.

### Before You Begin

You need a Majikah account with accurate personal information, and a Majik Key backup (.json) file. Your profile information — legal name, date of birth, address — will be encrypted and stored as part of your MUID. It will be cross-checked against your government ID when you later complete Didit KYC, so make sure everything is correct before proceeding.

### Creating Your MUID — 3 Steps

1. **Step 1 — Confirm Your Profile**
   *Review and update your personal information*
   - Navigate to id.majikah.solutions/id. The setup wizard launches automatically if you have no existing MUID.
   - Review the pre-filled personal information pulled from your Majikah profile: legal name, date of birth, gender, address.
   - If any information is incorrect, click Edit and update it in place — or click Edit on Profile Page to update your Majikah profile first and return.
   - This must match your government-issued ID exactly. Discrepancies will cause Didit KYC to fail in a later step.
   - Once everything looks correct, click Confirm & Continue.

2. **Step 2 — Load Your Majik Key**
   *Bind a Majik Key to your identity*
   - Drag and drop your Majik Key backup .json file onto the drop zone, or click Browse files to select it from disk.
   - The key is loaded into memory only — it is never uploaded to any server.
   - Once loaded, a green confirmation banner shows the key fingerprint and confirms it is ready to bind.
   - This key will be permanently associated with your MUID. All future signatures verified against your public profile will reference this key's Ed25519 and ML-DSA-87 public keys.
   - If you load the wrong file, click the ✕ button to clear it and try again.

3. **Step 3 — Create**
   *Register your MUID on the server*
   - Click Create Universal ID. The system encrypts your private personal information using your key's ML-KEM-768 public key and registers the identity.
   - You will see a success summary showing your new MUID ID, bound key fingerprint, and creation date.
   - Your MUID is now active with an Unverified badge. It is fully functional for signing and publishing SLinks.
   - To get a verified badge, proceed to How to Verify a Majik Universal ID.


### Need to Make Changes?

While your MUID is still Unverified, you can delete and recreate it at any time. From your ID panel, click Delete & Re-create. The setup wizard will reopen immediately so you can correct your personal information or bind a different Majik Key. Once deleted, the old MUID is permanently gone — but since it was unverified, no history is lost.

### Keep Your Majik Key Secure

> ⚠️ **WARNING:** Your Majik Key .json backup contains your seed phrase. Anyone with this file can sign content as you. Store it securely offline — treat it like a password manager master key. Once your MUID is verified, replacing the bound key requires revoking the entire identity.
