This request automatically attaches your contact card. If they accept the request, their contact card is securely sent back to you. This two-way handshake ensures both parties have the necessary public keys to send and receive encrypted messages securely. > **NOTE:** You can view all your incoming and sent requests by navigating to the Contacts tab and clicking the Manage Invites (Handshake) button at the top right. ### Handling Incoming Requests 1. **View Incoming Requests** - Open the Manage Invites panel. - Click the Incoming tab to filter requests sent to you. - Requests waiting for your response will be marked as 'Pending'. 2. **Accept or Decline** *Respond to the invitation* - To Accept: Click the green Checkmark icon. This instantly adds their contact card to your directory and shares yours in return. - To Decline: Click the red X icon. This rejects and deletes the request. ### Managing Sent Requests 1. **Track Sent Requests** - Open the Manage Invites panel and click the Sent tab. - Here you will see requests you've sent to others. They will be marked as 'Pending' until the other user responds. 2. **Cancel a Pending Request** - If a request is still 'Pending', you can click the red X icon to cancel the invitation before it is accepted. 3. **Finalize Accepted Requests (Important)** *Add them to your directory* - When a user accepts your request, the status will change to 'Accepted'. - An Add to Directory button will appear on the request. - You must click this button to officially import their contact card into your local directory and finalize the connection. ### Don't Forget to Add to Directory > ⚠️ **WARNING:** Just because a sent request says 'Accepted' doesn't mean the user is in your contacts yet. You must click the 'Add to Directory' button to securely import their public key. Once imported, the invite record will be cleaned up automatically. ### Invite Status Reference | Status | Meaning | Available Actions | | --- | --- | --- | | Pending (Incoming) | Someone wants to connect with you. | Accept (Green Check) or Decline (Red X) | | Pending (Sent) | You are waiting for the other user to accept. | Cancel (Red X) | | Accepted (Sent) | They accepted and sent their contact card back. | Add to Directory | *Caption: Understanding the different states of your invitations*
