These cryptographic accounts are used to encrypt and decrypt messages using post-quantum ML-KEM-768 encryption, whether you're chatting online or working offline. Private keys are protected at rest using Argon2id key derivation. ### Understanding Seed Phrase Accounts Seed phrase accounts are your cryptographic identities in Majik Message. Unlike your Majikah account (online profile), these are local accounts that store your crypto identity and enable post-quantum message encryption and decryption. Each account is derived from a 12/24-word BIP-39 mnemonic seed phrase, which deterministically generates both your X25519 identity key and your ML-KEM-768 post-quantum keypair. Private keys are encrypted at rest on your device using Argon2id. You need at least one seed phrase account to start using Majik Message. You can use them offline in the Message tab or register them online for real-time chat messaging. > **NOTE:** Post-Quantum Security: Majik Message accounts use ML-KEM-768 (FIPS-203), NIST's standardized post-quantum key encapsulation mechanism, combined with X25519 for classical security. Your messages are protected against both current and future quantum computing threats. > **NOTE:** All account management happens in the Accounts tab (first tab in the top navigation bar). ### Create a New Account 1. **Open Account Creation** *Navigate to the Accounts tab* - Go to the Accounts tab in the top navigation bar - Click the plus (+) icon in the upper right corner - A dialog window will appear 2. **Set Account Details** *Configure your account name and security* - Enter a display name (e.g., 'Work Account', 'Personal') - Set a password/passphrase to protect this account - Your passphrase is used with Argon2id to encrypt your private keys at rest—remember it, as you'll need it to make changes later 3. **Configure Seed Phrase** *Generate or import your 12/24-word seed phrase* - Click the dice icon to generate a new 12/24-word BIP-39 seed phrase - Or manually enter an existing 12/24-word seed phrase if importing - Write down your seed phrase in a secure location—this is the master key to your cryptographic identity 4. **Complete Setup** - Review all details and click Create - Your new account will appear in the Accounts tab - If this is your first account, it will automatically become the active account ### Critical Security Information > ⚠️ **WARNING:** Never share your seed phrase with anyone. Store it securely offline. Anyone with your seed phrase can regenerate your full cryptographic identity—including your ML-KEM-768 private key—and access all messages encrypted to you. If you lose your seed phrase, you cannot recover your account. ### How Your Keys Are Derived When you create an account, your 12/24-word BIP-39 seed phrase is converted into a 64-byte master seed using PBKDF2-SHA512. From this seed, two keypairs are deterministically derived: an X25519 keypair (used for your identity fingerprint and address) and an ML-KEM-768 keypair (used for post-quantum message encryption). Your private keys are then encrypted with Argon2id using your passphrase before being stored locally. This means your passphrase protects your keys at rest, but your seed phrase is what allows full account recovery on any device. ### Delete an Account 1. **Locate the Account** - Go to the Accounts tab - Find the account you want to delete - Hover over the account to reveal action buttons 2. **Delete the Account** *Remove from local storage* - Click the delete icon on the rightmost side - Confirm the deletion when prompted - The account will be removed from local memory > **NOTE:** Deleted accounts can be re-imported later if you have the backup JSON file and your seed phrase. ### Rename an Account 1. **Open Rename Dialog** - In the Accounts tab, find your account - Hover over it to reveal action buttons - Click the pencil icon on the right side 2. **Update Display Name** - Enter the new display name in the dialog - Click Save to apply changes - The updated name will appear immediately ### Set Active Account 1. **Set Active Account for Local Encryption** *Used in the Message tab for offline encryption/decryption* - In the Accounts tab, find the account you want to activate - Hover over it to reveal action buttons - Click the star icon on the leftmost side - This account is now active for all local encryption in the Message tab 2. **Change Active Account for Online Chat** *Used in the Chats tab for real-time messaging* - Go to the Chats tab - Change the current identity from the identity selector - This will automatically update your active local account - Note: The account must be registered online and present locally > **NOTE:** If you try to use an online registered account that isn't in your local list, you'll need to re-import it first. ### Register Account Online 1. **Method 1: From Accounts Tab** *Quick registration from account list* - In the Accounts tab, hover over an unregistered account - Click the Wi-Fi icon (Register Online button) - This button only appears if the account isn't registered yet - The account will be registered to the online system 2. **Method 2: From Majikah Tab** *Register through the Registered Identities panel* - Go to the Majikah tab - Find the Registered Identities section panel - Click the plus (+) icon on the right side (Register Account button) - Select an existing local account from the dialog - Click confirm to register > ⚠️ **WARNING:** You cannot register an account that's already registered online. The system will show an error if you attempt this. ### Change Password/Passphrase 1. **Open Passphrase Settings** - In the Accounts tab, find your account - Hover over it to reveal action buttons - Click the gear icon (Change Passphrase button) 2. **Update Your Passphrase** *You'll need your current password* - Enter your current passphrase - Enter your new passphrase - Confirm the new passphrase - Click Save to apply changes - Your ML-KEM-768 private key will be re-encrypted at rest with the new passphrase using Argon2id > **NOTE:** If you forget your passphrase, you can reset your entire app session and re-import your accounts manually with a new passphrase using your seed phrase. This won't affect your ability to encrypt or decrypt messages as long as you have your seed phrase. ### Copy Public Key 1. **Access Public Key** - In the Accounts tab, find your account - Hover over it to reveal action buttons - Click the key icon (Copy Public Key button) - Your public key is now copied to the clipboard > **NOTE:** Your public key is safe to share. It contains your X25519 and ML-KEM-768 public keys, which allow others to encrypt messages to you, but cannot be used to decrypt your messages. ### Share Contact with Friends 1. **Generate Invite Link** - In the Accounts tab, find the account you want to share - Hover over it to reveal action buttons - Click the link icon (Share button) - Your invite key is now copied to the clipboard 2. **Send to Friends** - Paste the invite key in a message to your friend - They can use this to add you to their contacts directory - You can share this via email, messaging apps, or any communication channel ### Unregister from Online Registry 1. **Navigate to Registered Identities** - Go to the Majikah tab - Find the Registered Identities section panel - You'll see all your online registered accounts listed here 2. **Remove Registration** *Delete from online system only* - Locate the account you want to unregister - Click the dropdown menu on the rightmost side - Select Delete from the options - Confirm the deletion when prompted ### What Happens When You Unregister > ⚠️ **WARNING:** Unregistering removes your account from the online Majikah system. You will no longer receive real-time messages from other users and cannot access online chat. However, your local account remains intact and can still be used for offline encryption and decryption in the Message tab. You can re-register at any time. ### Quick Reference: Account Actions | Action | Location | Button/Icon | Requirement | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Create Account | Accounts Tab | Plus (+) icon (top right) | None | | Delete Account | Accounts Tab | Delete icon (rightmost) | Hover over account | | Rename Account | Accounts Tab | Pencil icon | Hover over account | | Set Active (Local) | Accounts Tab | Star icon (leftmost) | Hover over account | | Set Active (Chat) | Chats Tab | Identity selector | Must be registered online | | Register Online | Accounts or Majikah Tab | Wi-Fi icon / Plus icon | Unregistered account | | Change Passphrase | Accounts Tab | Gear icon | Know current passphrase | | Copy Public Key | Accounts Tab | Key icon | Hover over account | | Share Contact | Accounts Tab | Link icon | Hover over account | | Unregister Online | Majikah Tab | Dropdown menu | Must be registered | *Caption: Common account management tasks and their locations*
