Most issues in Majik Buwiz fall into one of five categories: key and passphrase problems, decryption failures, signature verification errors, Exchange connectivity issues, and export problems. Work through the relevant section below before reaching out for support. ### Key and passphrase issues 1. **I forgot my passphrase** - The passphrase is never stored — only the Argon2id-derived key used to encrypt your key material is kept locally. There is no passphrase recovery mechanism. - The only path forward is to delete the key from the app and re-import from your backup: a .json seed file, a .png backup image, or manually entering your 12/24-word seed phrase. - After re-import, you will be asked to set a new passphrase. - If you do not have any backup format, access to that key and everything tied to it is permanently lost. 2. **I lost my seed phrase / backup file** - If you still have the app open and the key is unlocked in the current session, immediately export a new backup from the Majik Universal ID tab. - If the app is closed and you have no backup, the key cannot be recovered. There is no server-side copy. - Going forward: store your seed phrase in at least two separate secure offline locations. 3. **The app is asking for my passphrase but I just entered it** - The key unlock is session-based. Closing and reopening the app always requires re-entry of the passphrase — this is by design. - If the passphrase prompt appears unexpectedly mid-session, the app may have restarted. Re-enter your passphrase to continue. ### Decryption failures 1. **I cannot decrypt a received invoice** - Confirm your Majik Key is unlocked — the passphrase must be entered at the start of each session. - Confirm your key is one of the listed recipients for that invoice. Only keys whose fingerprint matches the invoice's recipient list can decrypt it. If you are not a listed recipient, you will need to ask the issuer to resend with your key included. - If you recently re-imported your key from backup, verify the fingerprint matches the one on the invoice. A different seed phrase produces a different key and will not decrypt invoices encrypted for the original. 2. **A decrypted invoice shows as Locked after restarting the app** - This is expected behaviour. The decrypted cache is held in memory only for the current session and is cleared when the app closes or restarts. - Re-decrypt the invoice after unlocking your key at the start of the new session. ### Signature verification issues 1. **Signature verification fails on my own invoice** - If you edited the invoice after signing, the content hash will no longer match and verification will fail. Structural changes (line items, taxes, parties, amounts, dates, references) invalidate signatures — this is by design. - If you did not edit the invoice, the file may be corrupted. Try re-exporting the invoice from your local database. - If the invoice shows as Invalid, do not send or share it until you reissue and re-sign. 2. **A received invoice shows as Invalid** - An Invalid integrity status means the signature does not match the invoice content — the financial fields were modified after signing. - Do not accept or pay an invoice that shows as Invalid. Contact the issuer to request a correctly signed version. - This can also occur if the invoice file was corrupted in transit — ask the issuer to resend via the Exchange. ### Exchange issues 1. **I cannot send an invoice via the Exchange** - Confirm you have an active internet connection. - Confirm you are logged in to your Majikah account with a valid MUID. - Confirm the recipient is in your Contacts directory with their full key material imported. - Confirm the invoice is signed — unsigned invoices cannot be sent via the Exchange. 2. **A received invoice has disappeared from the inbox** - The relay automatically deletes encrypted envelopes after 30 days from the sent date. If the invoice was not accepted and saved locally before the window closed, it is no longer available on the relay. - Contact the issuer and ask them to resend the invoice. - Going forward: sync and accept received invoices promptly — do not leave them in the inbox unaccepted. 3. **I cannot see my MUID or the Exchange tab is not loading** - Check your internet connection. - Log out and log back in to your Majikah account from the Majik Universal ID tab. - If your MUID was recently created, allow a few minutes for propagation. ### Export issues 1. **The PDF export is missing line items** - If the invoice is encrypted and locked, the PDF will not include line items — only the public summary and an encrypted payload notice. - Decrypt the invoice first, then re-export the PDF. 2. **The CSV export has blank financial columns for some invoices** - Blank financial columns indicate the invoice was encrypted and locked at export time. Decrypt those invoices and re-export. 3. **The app crashed mid-signing or mid-encryption** - Reopen the app and check the invoice status in My Invoices. - If the invoice is still in Draft, the signing operation did not complete — retry signing. - If the invoice shows as Partially Signed, the operation was interrupted. Reissue and re-sign to ensure a clean integrity block. > **NOTE:** If you cannot resolve an issue using this guide, reach out via business@thezelijah.world or open an issue on the GitHub repository at github.com/Majikah/majik-buwiz.
