It contains your legal name, TIN, address, and tax classification. This guide covers all available fields, which are required, and how changes affect your invoices. ### What is a tax profile? Your tax profile is the issuer record that Majik Buwiz pre-fills on every new invoice you create. It represents you or your business as the sending party — your legal name, trade name, Tax Identification Number (TIN), address, and tax classification details. When you sign an invoice, this profile data becomes part of the signed payload and cannot be altered without invalidating the signature. It is set up during the onboarding flow and can be updated at any time from the Majik Universal ID tab. > **NOTE:** Changes to your tax profile only affect new invoices created after the change. Previously signed invoices retain the issuer data that was present at the time of signing — signatures are not retroactively invalidated, and the old issuer data remains embedded in those invoices permanently. ### Tax profile fields 1. **Identity fields** *Who you are as an invoicing entity* - Legal Name (required) — Your registered legal name or business name. This is the primary issuer name that appears on all invoices. - Trade Name (optional) — Your DBA (doing business as) name, if different from your legal name. - Nature of Business (optional) — Your industry or type of business activity. 2. **Tax identification fields** *Your tax registration details* - TIN (optional) — Your Tax Identification Number. For Philippine businesses, this is your BIR-assigned TIN. - Tax ID Type (optional) — The type of tax identifier (e.g. BIR TIN, VAT registration number, EIN). - Tax Exempt (optional) — Toggle this on if your entity is tax-exempt. - Tax Exempt Reference (optional) — Your exemption certificate reference number, if applicable. 3. **Tax classification (Tax Profile)** *Used to determine default tax behaviour on invoices* - Taxpayer Type — Your legal classification (e.g. individual, corporation, partnership, sole proprietor). Aligned with BIR classifications. - Taxpayer Category (optional) — More specific classification within your taxpayer type. - VAT Type (optional) — Whether you are VAT-registered, non-VAT, or zero-rated. - Is Percentage Tax (optional) — Whether you are subject to percentage tax (BIR Form 2551Q). - Is Withholding Agent (optional) — Whether your entity is a registered BIR withholding agent. - Default ATC (optional) — Your default Alphanumeric Tax Code, used as a hint when applying expanded withholding tax (EWT) on invoices. 4. **Address** *Your registered business address* - Line 1 (required when providing an address) — Street address. - Line 2 (optional) — Unit, floor, or suite. - City (required when providing an address). - State or Province (optional). - Postal Code (optional). - Country (required when providing an address) — ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code (e.g. PH, US). - Branch Code (optional) — BIR branch code for Philippine taxpayers with multiple registered branches. - District (optional). 5. **Contact fields** *Optional contact information* - Email (optional) - Phone (optional) - Website (optional) ### How the tax profile is used in invoices Every time you create a new invoice, Majik Buwiz copies your tax profile into the invoice's issuer field. This is a snapshot — editing your profile after an invoice is created does not change existing invoices. The issuer data embedded in a signed invoice is cryptographically committed and cannot be altered without breaking the signature. This is by design: your signed invoices are a permanent, tamper-evident record of who issued them and under what identity at the time of signing. ### Field summary | Field | Required? | Notes | | --- | --- | --- | | Legal Name | Yes | Primary issuer name on all invoices | | Trade Name | No | DBA name — shown alongside legal name if set | | Nature of Business | No | Industry classification | | TIN | No | BIR TIN for Philippine businesses | | Tax ID Type | No | Type of tax identifier | | Tax Exempt | No | Defaults to false | | Tax Exempt Reference | No | Required only if tax-exempt is true | | Taxpayer Type | No | BIR-aligned classification | | Taxpayer Category | No | Sub-classification within taxpayer type | | VAT Type | No | VAT-registered, non-VAT, or zero-rated | | Is Percentage Tax | No | For 2551Q filers | | Is Withholding Agent | No | Registered BIR withholding agents | | Default ATC | No | EWT alphanumeric tax code hint | | Address (Line 1, City, Country) | No (but recommended) | Appears on issued invoices | | Branch Code | No | BIR branch code for multi-branch taxpayers | | Email / Phone / Website | No | Contact information on invoice | *Caption: All tax profile fields and their requirements.* > **NOTE:** The tax profile structure is designed with Philippine BIR compliance in mind — TIN format, branch codes, EWT/ATC fields, and percentage tax classification all map directly to BIR requirements. The system is also general enough to accommodate non-Philippine tax jurisdictions by using the generic Tax ID Type and Tax Exempt Reference fields.
